Sources close to Chris Brown have confirmed what outside observers can plainly see: Parisian police have trouble believing the story of the woman who accused Brown of rape.
Brown was released from police custody earlier this week without any conditions. He was allowed to keep his passport, a sign that they weren't likely to bring a case against him. According to an anonymous source that TMZ said was "directly connected to the case," police have problems with the accuser's statement.
"The weakest part of the case is the alleged victim's statement to police," the source told the gossip website.
Apparently, authorities are wondering how the accuser was sexually abused by three different men, in three different rooms in the suite, and never attempted to alert the 20-plus people gathered in the living room.
And Brown is definitely acting like an innocent man. Not only has he not left Paris, he hasn't changed hotels from the one where he's accused of committing a crime. He also posted an all-caps proclamation of his innocence to Instagram.
"I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR," he wrote in a since-deleted post. "THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!"
The singer also reportedly wants to sue his accuser for defamation.
Since the accusations have dropped, scores of Brown's fellow famous people (read: people who weren't there) have come to his defense. Joyner Lucas, Meek Mill, and T.I. have served as online character witnesses in the days following the news. Lucas' defense was particularly vile, saying that Brown wouldn't commit rape because he's attractive and seemingly throwing a bit of doubt on the many R. Kelly accusations with a conspiracy theory aside.
"Anybody who actually thinks Breezy needs to take some pussy got issues. Trust me when I say it doesn’t matter what city, state, country, or continent this n***a goes to, he can literally pick like a flower from a garden of bad bitches who wanna fuck and it’s that simple," he wrote on Instagram. "I’m no conspiracy theorist but no bullshit, im [sic] really starting to believe that TV networks are paying muthafukas to false claim allegations just so they can turn it into a documentary."
