Beyoncé Crowns Atlanta as New Winner of 'Everybody on Mute' War During Renaissance Tour
Beyoncé is joining in on the "Everybody on Mute" challenge and just crowned Atlanta as the latest winner.
Atlanta showed out in the quietest way possible when Beyoncé brought her sold-out Renaissance World Tour to the Mercedez-Benz Stadium on Friday, August 11.
The BeyHive have taken it upon themselves to start a new kind of challenge when she performs the song “Energy.” The concept for the “Eerbody On Mute” challenge is simple: when Beyoncé sings “Big wave in the room, the crowd gon’ move / Look around, everybody on mute,” she briefly pauses the song and fans must stay quiet until she sings “Look around, it’s me and my crew / Big energy.”
Although Beyoncé never formally asked fans to go “mute” during this part of the song, loyal members of the BeyHive have turned this moment of the show into a competition between each city the star is set to visit and have been encouraging others to follow suit (even if it means people none-the-wiser getting cursed out in the process).
When the big moment arrived on the first Atlanta show, Beyoncé was impressed and excited by the silence in the stadium. “Y’all won, y’all won, y’all won,” she said instead of finishing the lyrics.
It’s not clear when Beyoncé became aware of the so called “war” between the cities but she joined in on the fun when she crowned the crowd in Washington D.C. on August 6 as the winner, per a short message on her website. With other major cities left on tour, including Miami, Los Angeles, and Houston, there’s still plenty of chances for fans to participate in the challenge and dethrone each other.
The Renaissance World Tour is currently touring through North America and is set to wrap up on October 1 in Kansas City.
