Maxo Kream’s “Hoova” Video Leads to 20 Arrests on Gun Charges

Houston law enforcement charged the men with illegal possession of a weapon.

20 men are facing gun charges following a music video shoot for Houston rappers Maxo Kream and NFL Cartel Bo.

According to local news outlet Click 2 Houston, the men participated in the shoot back in March at Lakewood Park near Hilliard Elementary School. While filming they brandished weapons behind Kream, whose real name is Emekwanem Biosah Jr., and NFL Cartel Bo, whose real name is Warren Brown.

Local law enforcement claim about a dozen of the guns were loaded and some of them were stolen. In this context they were obviously being used as props for the video. Police also allege many of the men are documented gang members.

When cops arrived during filming, many of the people ran away, leaving their weapons behind. Others were arrested on the spot, and some had open warrants. Law enforcement also allegedly found drugs at the scene.

The crux of this case is Kream and Bo’s decision to release the video two months later. The video for their song “Hoova” was shared via WorldStarHipHopand has almost two million views today.

Police used this video to track down the men holding weapons and arrest them. Twenty people in total were charged with illegal possession of a weapon—11 have been apprehended, with police still pursuing nine other men including Brown. One of the men, named Kenyon Tennessee, died before being charged after being shot last month.

Brown was actually charged and arrested for illegally possessing two assault rifles and threatening a police officer earlier this year. He was later released on bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor, but has reportedly cut it off and his whereabouts are unknown.
