XXXTentacion Reportedly Signs $6 Million Deal With Capitol Ahead of Assault Trial
XXXTentacion's assault trial will begin in December.
Florida rapper XXXTentacion has signed a $6 million record deal with Capitol Music Group, according to Billboard. The deal is reportedly through Capitol's indie distributor Caroline.
XXXTentacion, who was born Jahseh Onfroy, dropped his debut album 17 back in August. It's lone listed feature comes from Trippie Redd. The album, which was released through Bad Vibes Forever/EMPIRE, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, moving 87,000 equivalent album units.
The 19 year-old artist was able to make the deal despite having significant legal troubles. On Oct. 8, 2016, XXX was arrested after allegations of domestic violence were made by his then-girlfriend. He was subsequently charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering. XXX is set to go to trial on Dec. 11.
Pitchfork published disturbing excerpts from the alleged victim's 142-page testimony. XXX has denied the charges.
