The Weeknd Dedicates 'After Hours' to Fan Who Passed Away

In the lead-up to the upcoming release of his new album, After Hours, the Weeknd has paid tribute to a fan who recently passed away.

On Twitter, the Weeknd expressed his shock upon learning about the death of a fan known as XOPODCAST online. The "Blinding Lights" artist was clearly close enough to the fan to know him as Lance, reposting a statement on his passing.

He followed up by paying his respects to Lance. "RIP LANCE aka XOPODCAST," he wrote. "You were one of the true original backbones of my XO fan base. Can't believe I'm findout about this today. I'm dedicating After Hours to you, my friend."

XO signee Belly also paid his respects to Lance on Twitter. "RIP Lance," he wrote. "Always showed love and went hard for this XO shit. You will be missed."

After Hours hits streaming services at midnight, March 20, and it's already broken the record for most pre-sales in Apple Music history.

Chart Data pointed out the achievement on Twitter, noting it had been added to libraries over 975k times worldwide.
