On the five-year anniversary of Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late, Quentin Miller reflected on the impact the project had on his life. Miller was thrust into the public eye when Meek Mill alleged that he ghostwrote a number of tracks on the release, prompting a beef between Drizzy and Meek that culminated with Drake's diss track "Back to Back." But instead of increasing his stature, the ghostwriting allegations turned his life into "hell," Miller explained in a video on Instagram.
"So, a lot people been congratulating me and sending me messages and shit about the five-year anniversary of If You're Reading This and shit," he started the four-minute video. Due to the circumstances surrounding the beef that followed, Miller said that it's "different" for him. "It's pretty much taboo for me to even talk about it," he continued. "Unfortunately I don't have the good memories about it everyone has, my good memories were all murdered the day Meek Mandela... The day he put my name out there and just blew up my whole spot. That shit just fucked everything up for me, bro."
In the aftermath, he says his ties with DJ Drama and record labels were "severed." It's also worth pointing out that Miller was credited as a songwriter on four tracks on the project, whereas a ghostwriter typically does not receive such a credit. He went on to say that Meek and Drake are "best friends" now, making the situation seem more pointless. "What the fuck was all of that for?" he asked.
Miller said that If You're Reading This It's Too Late was "the best moment of my life," but because of Meek's tweets it became "one of the most stressful." He said he "envys" the songwriters, artists, and producers who are able to look on it fondly because "it wasn't in a good light for me."
Miller said he's glad fans of Drake enjoyed the project, but added, "five years later I'm still trying to shake that shit." At teh video's end,he asks for labels and artists to "take a chance" on him. "Everyone wanna kick me to the curb, man," he said. "Fuck that shit, give me the opportunity, man. [...] I can box with all these n***as, man. So, take a chance on Quentin Miller."
