Four men have been arrested in connection to the June 2018 murder of XXXTentacion. According to newly surfaced court documents via The Blast, one of the men cited as a murder suspect has accused police of violating his rights when they questioned him. As a result, he's now demanded that his testimony not be allowed in court.
Michael Boatwright, who was arrested alongside Dedrick Williams, Trayvon Newsome, and Robert Allen, recently filed the motion to combat the release of his testimony to police. He's currently incarcerated as he awaits his trial and was reportedly arrested on an unrelated drug charge on July 5, 2018. His lawyer has claimed that a homicide detective who was working on the case investigated Boatwright in connection with the murder, bringing him in to the Broward Sheriff's Office interrogation room for questioning over XXXTentacion shortly after his arrest.
Around eight minutes into the interrogation, Boatwright told the officer he "don't wanna talk no more." His lawyer has accused the police of continuing the interview regardless of his right to remain silent. Shortly after, a different officer came into the room to take DNA and photos. It was allegedly only after this that the cop read Boatwright his Miranda Rights. He claims he remained silent throughout, only answering the occasional question.
"Just tell me to fuck off then," the officer has been accused of saying. "So I know you're done."
