Last November, actress and model Kim Porter was found dead in her Los Angeles-area home at age 47. She dated Diddy on and off for over a decade, and was the mother of three of his children. Understandably, Diddy was devastated by the news, paying tribute to her numerous times following her death. In his first interview since November, Diddy opened up to Essence about the loss. Now, they've released direct audio of the interview he had with Dream Hampton.

"Anybody that’s lost a mother or lost a soulmate, it takes time," he said, clearly overwhelmed with emotion. "It takes time. They say time heals all wounds when it comes to mothers...I don’t think that’s the case." The tearful conversation is hard to listen to at times, but Diddy reportedly insisted it was okay to share the audio as he felt it was important. "I don't think anyone would ever understand how hard it is to be a black mother," he added.

"God sent her for me to teach me something," Diddy explained. "There’s levels and dimensions to love, and especially love between a man and woman. There’s this place that almost goes beyond friendship. It’s where two people actually feel like a level of responsibility to love this person forever; and a total trust."
