Rising 19-year-old rapper YNW Melly was charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Wednesday (Feb. 13). Melly has been accused of killing two of his closest friends, YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, in fatal shootings last year. Shortly before his arrest, Melly maintained his innocence on Instagram. Following the news of his arrest, public interest in his breakout 2017 single "Murder on My Mind" was piqued once again due to its lyrical content.

In fact, it's now reached No. 1 on the U.S. Apple Music chart, according to Chart Data. Meanwhile, the song has steadily been climbing the Spotify charts, currently sitting at No. 19.

When the news of double-murder charge broke, a lot of people pointed to "Murder On My Mind" as a confession to the murders. However, the song was released in March 2017, while the murders took place in October 2018.

Melly and YNW Bortlen have been accused of killing both of the aforementioned members of the YNW crew. Authorities claim that Melly and Bortlen staged the crime scene to look like a drive-by shooting after they supposedly killed the two of them. "I want you guys to know I love you and appreciate every single one of y'all, a couple months ago I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want to find justice," he wrote on Instagram.
