Lil Pump has released the video for "Butterfly Doors," the record the Florida rapper previewed back in mid-December that caused controversy because of the racial slur and gesture included in the teaser he shared.
In the preview, Pump rapped, "They call me Yao Ming ‘cause my eyes real low, ching chong." Several Chinese rappers called out Pump over the lyric, with a handful of them dropping diss tracks aimed at him.
Pump responded with an apology and removed an Instagram post of the clip, though he kept the video preview up on Twitter. "I'm sorry and I apologize for posting that," he said. "It was not my intention to hurt nobody or do none of that, deadass. I got Asian homies, you know, I fuck with everybody. I ain't got nothing against nobody. It's all love. I want everybody to have a merry Christmas and spread love and positivity."
The final version of the song censors both the Yao Ming mention and "ching chong."
Director Ben Griffin is behind the lens for the video, which features Pump, a number of women in colorful outfits, and a fleet of luxury cars. The song is expected to appear on his upcoming album, Harverd Dropout, which was originally due out in late 2018 before being pushed back.
In April, Lil Pump, Gucci Mane, and Smokepurpp will be linking up at Coachella 2019 under the name "Gucci Gang." Pump and Purpp have a strong history, while Pump and Gucci recently linked up for the Evil Genius cut "Kept Back."
