A New Documentary on Rihanna Will Reportedly Be Released This Fall

Back in 2016, director Peter Berg revealed that he planned to start working on a documentary on Rihanna, what he said was, “more a character study than a music film.” We haven’t heard much about the film since then, but in a new interview with SlashFilm on the Mark Wahlberg-starring movie Mile 22, Berg shared that Rihanna will be here sooner than we think.

“I think she’s an extraordinary young woman,” he told the publication. “It really is kind of a pretty comprehensive profile of what goes into making her this talent that she is.” Berg also disclosed that “the movie will be out in about a month and a half, two months we’ll be able to start showing it.”

It seems that Rihanna is diving more and more into cinema these days. Just recently, she was seen with Donald Glover in Cuba, allegedly filming for a Hiro Murai–directed movie titled Guava Island. RiRi also recently starred in the summer gender-flipped heist film Ocean’s 8 alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, and more. In addition to the two albums she’s working on—including a reggae project—she’s still running her huge Fenty Beauty, Savage, and Puma empires.

Berg has previously worked with Rihanna, on the 2012 action film Battleship.
