The 21-year-old Chicago rapper explained the comparison on Twitter: “I started producing, I rap, I harmonize, I bring shit together, and I probably write for your favorite artist."

Smokepurpp loves to make self-aggrandizing claims.

Though he’s relatively new to the game has made some pretty bold and highly questionable statements in the past few months. He’s taken responsibility for birthing the SoundCloud movement, referred to himself as the best artist of his era, and, most recently, declared himself the “Kanye West of the next generation.”

Smokepurpp made the bold claim via Twitter on Thursday because, well, that’s just what he does.

When one Twitter user challenged his statement, the Chicago rapper attempted to explain his reasoning: “I started producing, I rap, I harmonize, I bring shit together, and I probably write for your favorite artist,” he wrote in a screenshot captured by KanyeToThe.

As expected, Smokepurpp’s tweets were met with mixed reactions. Some followers co-signed the comparison, while others were like, “nah.”

Smokepurpp is reportedly gearing up to release a joint effort with Lil Pump, as well as his much-anticipated Deadstar 2 mixtape. The “123” artist has been teasing the latter project on social media, leading fans to believe it'll arrive in the near future.
