Nas Says His 'NASIR' Follow-Up Will Be Out Soon

Nas joined Angie Martinez for an iHeartRadio Q&A in New York Thursday night, speaking on his experience with Kanye in Wyoming and his upcoming 'NASIR' follow-up.

"Cops Shot the Kid" aside, Nas' Kanye-helmed NASIR album has proven fairly forgettable. For anyone less-than-enthused about that seven-tracker's release, the good news is that Nas is already close to dropping something else.

"It's another album that I already had been working on before [NASIR]," Nas said during an iHeartRadio Q&A with Angie Martinez in New York Thursday night. "Since I did this, I gotta do something that, you know, goes in another direction a little bit. So I'm finishing up the next one." Asked if the wait will be long, he said, "No, it's not gonna be that long because half of it was already there, yeah. I did do something with Swizz, I did stuff with RZA. I'm a big Wu-Tang fan. RZA's real."

Nas also gave his assessment of Kanye's prolific Wyoming sessions. "There was a lot of creative people in the room," he said. "Wyoming was weird for me. Beautiful people . . . Yeah, that was different. I had never been there before."

Prior to the publicity storm surrounding G.O.O.D. Music's (seemingly still ongoing) surgical summer release marathon, Nas' alleged "mental and physical abuse" of Kelis was detailed in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked. "It was really dark," Kelis, who divorced Nas in 2009, said in April. "A lot of drinking. A lot of mental and physical abuse and it got to the point where if I wasn't pregnant, I might have stayed with him. I was pregnant and it was a mess and I felt like I wasn't going to bring a child into this."
