Montreal-born Patrik is an artist who is inspired by his surroundings, and attending a showing by Pierre-Marie Cespedes at the LivArt gallery in Montreal in November was one of those times. He was immediately inspired by the space and creative energy that was permeating the walls of the Montreal art hub, and so it became the setting of his latest video for "Entitled," which we are premiering here today.
“We saw this as an opportunity to capture performance art, in a pure form, in a gallery (which at the time was housed by photography portraits),” says video producer, Arash Maleki, of Montreal-based Pigeon House Productions x Beso TV. “It is kind of like if a portrait came to life to unload the content and emotion within its frames. As an avid fan of art, Patrik creates an ode of sorts, a performance to come support and animate the spirit of the art hanging on the walls of the gallery.”
"Entitled" is the first track from Patrik's forthcoming Spadina EP, the name being an ode to the neighborhood where Patrik now resides after a move to Toronto. “'Entitled' is the embodiment of my transitioning," says Patrik of the song. "In style, it visually captures the simplicity of reinventing myself. Content with where I’m heading, disregarding complimentary statements.”
If you live in Toronto or Montreal you have a few chances to see Patrik live over the next month. Peep the tour dates below and enjoy "Entitled" above, or listen on your favourite streaming service including Spotify.
