QUALITY CONTROL MUSIC DROPS CITY GIRLS

City Girls 'Period'

Months after joining the Quality Control family, female rap duo City Girls have unleashed their debut project called Period.

The Miami act first landed on our radar with with their track “Fuck Dat N***a,” which appeared on QC’s 2017 Control the Streets Vol. 1 compilation. Since then, members JT and Yung Miami have been carving a path in the male-dominated hip-hop realm with hard-hitting tracks like “Run Them Bands Up” with Trina and Period’s lead single “Where the Bag At.”

Other than the risqué record “Movie” featuring Ball Greezy, the rap duo handles the 16-track project without any assistance. Though the lack of cameos is somewhat surprising—as QC is home to big-name acts like Lil Yachty, Migos, and OG Maco—City Girls have always strived to do things on their own; it's a big reason why they were somewhat hesitant to ink a deal with QC last year.

"When Stan [their manager] told us QC wanted to sign, we said, 'We don’t want to sign with y’all, we want to be independent,' JT told Noisey back in January; however, after getting to know label boss Kevin "Coach K" Lee, the duo was convinced QC was a good fit.

"They liked that we were hood, and they accepted us for who we are," Yung Miami said. "We want to be a miracle. We want everybody to believe it can happen to them, because we really are just regular girls."
