Avicii's Death Reportedly Caused by Injuries From Broken Wine Bottle Pieces

DJ and producer Avicii reportedly died from self-inflicted injuries after using broken pieces of a wine bottle to cut himself.

Avicii reportedly died from self-inflicted injuries after using broken pieces of a wine bottle to cut himself, according to TMZ.

The DJ and EDM producer was found dead on April 20th in the country of Oman at 28 years old. Last week, Avicii's family released a statement suggesting that the DJ died from suicide. The statement read, "When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace."

Multiple sources told TMZ that he did take his own life and one source said he used a shard of glass that caused massive bleeding. Two additional sources said that the glass came from a bottle that he broke. One source claimed that the glass came from a wine bottle specifically.

Two sources have said that Avicii cut himself on his neck, and one said the injury was on his wrist. The exact physical location where was cut has not yet been confirmed.

In 2016, Avicii wrote a letter to his fans announcing that he would be retiring from music. While the letter alluded to the idea that the DJ wanted to explore other interests, he continued to release music. Avicii also suffered an alcohol addiction. Before Avicii's death, he was reportedly talking about a new project with Geffen Records president Neil Jacobson.
