Young & Sick—government name Nick van Hofwegen—took a hiatus for a few years, and made a comeback in fall 2017, dropping off the singles “Ojai” and a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” from his forthcoming EP Ojai. Before the release of the project on Friday (Jan. 26), Young & Sick is sharing his brand new single “The Road.” He uses the raw and soulful track to further encapsulate his recent travels throughout small town America.
Ojai will be Young & Sick’s first release since 2014, when he dropped his self-titled debut album. Speaking on the growth of his sound since his debut, Nick tells Complex over email, “I’d rather have [this EP] sound rougher around the edges. Maybe it’s not the best guitar take or the best vocal take or the best anything, but it’s capturing that moment.”
