2016 has seen a lot of very random rivalries, but this may be the one to beat. Avril Lavigne apparently wasn't too pleased with a joke Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg made at the expense of Nickelback, and so naturally she decided to take her anger to Twitter. Lavigne posted a lengthy note calling Zuckerberg out after he had his new AI Jarvis claim there were "no good Nickelback songs" in a video introducing the Morgan Freeman-voiced product (check around the 1:15 mark).

Lavigne—who was married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger until 2015—clapped back.

“Many people use your products—some people love them and some people don’t. either way, you’re allowed your musical opinion however, your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste,” Lavigne wrote. “When you have a voice like yours, you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what’s going on in the world today. #SayNoToBullying #TheJokeIsOld #NickelbackHasSoldOver50MillionAlbums.”

Shockingly, Mark Zuckerberg has yet to find time in his busy schedule to respond to her, probably because she decided to call him out on a competing social media platform. To be fair, the Nickelback joke is pretty played out. Then again, I never thought we would see Avril Lavigne becoming the arbiter of old internet jokes.

We're gonna chalk this beef up to end-of-2016 weirdness and try to keep focused on the important issues. As Lavigne herself once said, "Everyone has their own opinion on everybody."
