While everyone waits for WAVES and Views From The 6, Jazz Cartier snuck in and dropped a surprise project today. Following a cryptic promotional campaign with clues sent to fans via daily telegrams, the 16-track effort arrived on SoundCloud.
Hotel Paranoia features previously released tracks "Stick & Move," "Tales," "I Know," and "Opera," and a dozen more new cuts, all produced by Lantz. The lone feature on the project comes from River Tiber on "Tell Me." Musically, this is an expansion of the severe “cinematic trap” Cartier and Lantz are known for. But on first listen, it becomes clear in his lyrics that the stakes are higher for Jazz this time around. On album opener “Talk Of The Town,” he pulls no punches whatsoever: “Everybody in the States compare me to Drake/’Cause there’s not many in the city who can carry the weight/Y’all got it wrong, dropping 2 or 3 songs, tryna get a little buzz and get carried away/I’m in it for the long run, you only in it for the wrong one.”
