Avril Lavigne was a radio-staple in the early '2000s with hits like "Sk8er Boi" and "Complicated, but as the music scene shifted, she faded out of the spotlight. More recently, Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and disappeared from the public eye, until she came forward and shared details of her personal experience, and later announced that she was separating from her husband, Chad Kroeger.

The ups and downs led fans to wonder more about Avril, and one particular group from Brazil launched a site titled, "Avril Is Dead." According to Noisey, the fans claim that the real Avril died after the release of her debut album and was replaced by an imposter named Melissa VandellaThe group's proof is reportedly that the moles on Avril's body have changed over time. And this one interview where she stumbled when asked about being a clone.

The guy behind the theory has since claimed that "Avril Lavigne never died" and that the whole thing was an experiment to prove you can make anyone on the internet believe anything. He is probably right, but this is a weird example.
