Trump’s Anti-Shark Fury Has Inspired a Flood of Donations to Shark Conservation Charities

People hate Donald Trump so much, they'll support any cause he hates.

Stormy Daniels' unearthed interview with In Touch revealed that Donald Trump allegedly had an affair with the porn star. But that wasn't the only interesting tidbit to come from the 2011 interview. It turns out that Trump REALLY hates sharks.

"He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks," said Daniels, recalling a time the two watched Shark Week. "He was like, 'I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.' He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It’s so strange, I know."

Trump reiterated his hatred on Twitter in 2013 as well and, oddly enough, wanted to play the president in Sharknado 3.

But it seems that all his hate only motivated people to donate to the cause. "We have been receiving donations in Trump’s name since the story was published," said Cynthia Wilgren, chief executive officer and co-founder of Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. Wilgren also noted that it's often "a challenge to raise money for a species that most people fear."

Founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Paul Watson, said that his organization is also seeing an increase in charitable donations for sharks. "Anything that focuses attention on the plight of sharks worldwide is valuable, so I guess in that way the president did good service," Watson said.

But since Trump's opposition will support anything he hates, maybe he can do another "good service" and tweet about his hatred for elephants and people who don't poach them next?
