A 15-year-old Arizona student was arrested last week after allegedly bringing an AR-15 to school.

As first reported by regional outlet KPNX, the student in question is alleged to have brought the gun, as well as ammo, to Bostrom High School in Phoenix on Friday. After receiving a report of a possible gun on campus, the school was placed on a temporary lockdown.

The Phoenix Police Department said in a subsequent statement to multiple outlets, including Complex, that the student was arrested “in possession of an AR-15 and additional ammunition” at the school on Friday. The student, police claimed, was detained in the main office.

Additional ammo is alleged to have been found in the unidentified student’s backpack and lunch box. While the investigation remains ongoing, police said on Friday that the student is facing “a number of serious felony charges.”

Michelle Gutierrez de Jimenez, principal of the school, said the initial report about a possible gun on campus came from another student.

“Our staff immediately contacted local law enforcement, who arrived on the scene and confirmed the report to be true,” the principal said in a recent news release. “The Phoenix Police Department is investigating, and we will cooperate fully in their investigation.”

Complex has reached out to school officials for additional information. This story may be updated.
