Dark alley weed purchases may soon be a thing of the past for those looking to soak up more than just the sun in Jamaica. The country’s Cannabis Licensing Authority proposed an idea that would have you buying marijuana as soon as you hop off the plane.

According to High Times, the CLA plans to install kiosks in all airports and seaports specially for the purpose of dolling out licenses to legally light up, along with a starter kit of two ounces before leaving to check in where you’re staying.

"It would primarily be for people who have a prescription and, in effect, you're doing it for medicinal purposes with a permit from the Ministry of Health," chairman Hyacinth Lightbourne told the Jamaica Gleaner. If you don’t have a medical condition, there’s an option for that. He continued, "If they don't have a prescription, then they can do what we call 'self-declare,' and this will allow them to have the two ounces while they are here."

After weed possession was decriminalized last year, CLA wants to make it easier for tourists to purchase the substance while cashing in on those very import tourist dollars. "The thought is that if you are coming out of the airport, there is a kiosk that you can go to," he added. "So basically whoever is coming out of immigration can go to that desk and register and get that clearance."
