The YouTuber KingCobraJFS, Josh Saunders, developed such a strong following online that there was even a documentary made about him. The documentary, which is available on YouTube, called him an eccentric "goth wizard" who had been posting on YouTube for more than a decade. He had more than 117,000 subscribers on YouTube.
KingCobraJFS's dad posted a now-deleted video on social media on August 22, in which he confirmed his son had died, revealing his son was found unresponsive. The video is going viral on X, with tributes pouring in for the YouTuber.
Complex contacted the Casper, Wyoming, coroner and police for more details. Police referred Complex to a press release from the coroner.
"The Natrona County Coroner’s Office in conjunction with The Casper Police Department is investigating a death that occurred on August 21, 2025, in the 100 block of North Forest Drive," it says.
"Natrona County Coroner James Whipps has identified the decedent as 34-year-old Joshua Fay Saunders of Casper, WY. An autopsy has been scheduled, and Next of Kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing and further information surrounding the circumstances of the death will be released later."
In addition, in an email, Casper police told Complex: "In accordance with department protocol for unattended deaths, an investigation is underway. At this time, detectives believe the incident to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the public." Police say they were called at 1:30 p.m.
"Officers located a deceased adult male at the scene," police wrote.
“I got on today to delete all of his social media… because ‘f*** you’ is how I’m feeling. But I realized that would not be fair to his fans, and it’s certainly nothing he would want," his dad said in the video. "As you all know, Josh was harassed and bullied terribly his whole life. From the time he was 3, it was just nonstop. It was like he had a neon sign that said ‘Please pick on me.'"
The video was widely shared online.
The cause of death was not released. He was reportedly found dead in Casper, Wyoming.

"I went to Josh's house yesterday to take him to the doctor, and when I got there, he was sleeping. I tried to wake him up, but he was not responsive. I realized that his lips were blue, and I tried to revive him, but he was already dead," Clint said in the viral video.
Fans expressed grief on social media, with many posting tributes.
"R.i.P King Cobra JFS, we lost the final goth today..." wrote one.
"RIP KING COBRAJFS. it's been a wild ride friend. Was always rooting for you big dawg," another fan wrote.
