A man’s last words were seemingly enough to convince police that his wife had murdered him.
Missouri City, Texas law enforcement responded to a shooting in the city on early Tuesday morning, per ABC7. When they arrived at the scene, 43-year-old Jacqueline Thomas told police she accidentally shot her husband, 42-year-old Eugene Liger. But officials weren’t convinced the incident was a mere misfire.
Liger was eventually transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Prior to succumbing to his injuries, he gave a victim statement to police with language that suggested the shooting was not an accident.
Liger’s final words have not been disclosed, but Thomas was arrested and charged with murder based on his statement. There was also a 5-month-old child present at the home during the shooting, although they were not injured by the gunfire. As of now, it is unclear if Thomas will face additional charges for a child being at the scene of the shooting.
