People have been guessing for weeks about when the Apple's next big unveiling might finally take place. After all of the anticipation, speculation, and leaks, according to Forbes, Apple has announced that it will finally reveal the iPhone 7 on Sept. 7, 2016. Noted tech insider Evan Blass has speculated on Twitter that the latest phones could be seen in stores as soon as Sept. 16.
There's been a lot of talk over the past year or so about what the new iPhone 7 will look like, what it will do, and what it will and won't have. A recent candid photo taken of Taiwanese pop star Jimmy Lin has given us our best look so far, as it seems to show the latest iteration of Apple's flagship product remaining pretty similar in appearance to the iPhone 6 and 6s, albeit with a two-camera system located underneath the hood where many of the biggest improvements are set to take place; those include more RAM and faster processors.
Much of the more heated conversations about the upgraded iPhone 7 has centered around Apple's alleged decision to ditch the headphone jack—a staple of the line from the very beginning—which would force users to either opt for wireless headphones or lightning port connected EarPods. The issue has had a polarizing effect on Apple's devoted consumer base with some seeing it as an innovative way to produce an even slimmer model than ever before, while others decry it as an unnecessary and aggravating downgrade.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 7 are reportedly expected to open up on Sept. 9, two days after the big unveiling.
