Trump Uses Golf Comparison When Talking About Police Using Excessive Force and Jacob Blake Shooting
"They choke. Just like in a golf tournament, they miss a three-foot putt," Trump said while talking about police officers who have used excessive force.

During a bizarre and unsettling interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, Donald Trump decided to use a golf comparison when talking about police committing acts of violence and brutality against people.
"You know, a choker. They Choke... shooting the guy in the back many times, I mean, couldn't you have done something different," he said, bringing up the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin by police officer Rusten Sheskey. Blake, a 29-year-old Black man and father, was shot seven times in the back on August 23 and is now reportedly paralyzed from the waist down. Three of Blake's sons were with him at the time of the shooting.
"They choke. Just like in a golf tournament, they miss a three-foot putt," the reality television star and president also said, referencing a hypothetical golfer missing a short putt. Ingraham, seemingly realizing that the callous comparison would be criticized, quickly steered Trump from it. "I'm saying people choke. People choke and people are bad people. You have both. You have some bad people and they choke," Trump continued after Ingraham interjected.
Ingraham's interjection is spectacular to watch. She's like a Trump press aide leaping into the shot to intervene, except she's nominally the interviewer. https://t.co/xWQOndYkJS
Trump's comments come on the heels of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers imploring him to cancel his scheduled visit to Kenosha. "I am concerned your presence will only hinder our healing," Evers wrote. "I am concerned your presence will only delay our work to overcome division and move forward together."
Elsewhere during the Fox News interview with Ingraham, Trump rambled about his usual talking points, many of them outright lies and exaggerations, and incorrectly said that Portland "has been burning for many years, for decades it's been burning" when speaking about the protests against racism and white supremacy that have been going on in the city since the killing of George Floyd.
Trump begins his hour-long interview Laura Ingraham by saying "Portland has been burning for many years, for decades it's been burning," which is a lie pic.twitter.com/wbzMqy6Uyj
Trump tells Laura Ingraham that Portland has been burning for "years," "years and years of burning," then amends it to "decades." (This is all nonsense.) He says it's like "a city someplace in the world that's not so good" but that he won't name that not-so-good city.
On the subject of the Black Lives Matter movement, Trump, who previously praised neo-Nazis as "very fine people," had to say this: "That's a terrible name. It's so discriminatory. It's bad for black people. It's bad for everybody... If you look at what's going on with the bats and a lot of thugs..."
Trump also repeated his wildly outlandish claim that he's done more for Black Americans than any other president.

"You know who's going to be in charge of it? Cory Booker. That's going to be nice" -- Trump is barely trying to conceal his racism pic.twitter.com/y1sqIcxOIU
The Kenosha cops who shot Jacob Blake in the back “choked,” according to Trump. They choked just like a golfer does when he misses a 3-foot putt in a tournament. Yes, he said that. Comparing the shooting of a man to missing a golf putt. https://t.co/xt2bbk08Uv
Watching clips of Laura Ingraham's interview with trump is like watching someone repeatedly try to stop a toddler from sticking his tongue into an electrical socket.
You know things are bad when Laura Ingraham has to save President Trump from saying stupid things. https://t.co/jBBp9x7e4U
The cops "CHOKED"?!? Trump saying the Cops in Kenosha that just SHOT an Unarmed African-American man 7 times in the back "CHOKED...like in Golf" . Trump's so bad EVEN Laura Ingraham herself stopped him & Cut Trump off for damage control!🤬🤦🏼♂️ pic.twitter.com/gLWjACFfpg
Holy shit, he read it on Facebook.
If this was the only literally insane thing Trump did in office, it would be enough to elect Biden.
