On April 21, Liam Weyer, 19, of Kansas, posted a video on TikTok where he dispassionately exclaimed, "Pee your pants challenge," before urinating on himself in front of his bathroom mirror. And just like that, the #peeyourpantschallenge was born.

Weyer was admittedly surprised to discover that getting people to record themselves as they pissed their pants became a trend because it was created as a joke that was supposed to be a social commentary on the pointlessness of other challenges that have gained widespread attention.

"I am definitely surprised that the challenge actually became a trend. I created the challenge as a parody of the other challenges that have gone viral on the internet in an attempt to show how pointless they are," Weyer told Insider. "I am surprised to see that people on the internet will pee themselves if you call it a challenge and add a hashtag."

Luckily, there were some people who saw through the utter stupidity and realized the clout chasing element of the #peeyourpantschallenge.
