Popeyes Chicken has sold out of its extremely popular new chicken sandwich and people are upset. The food chain has warned that they will reportedly be completely sold-out nationwide by the end of the week. One Tennessee man is so pissed about the situation that he decided to file a lawsuit against them for "false advertising."
As ABC's WTVC reports, Craig Barr has filed a civil summons in Hamilton County General Sessions court, citing countless unsuccessful attempts to purchase the beloved sandwich. He cited "false advertising, deceptive business practices by entity to public, countless time wasted driving to and from Popeyes." He added, "No chicken sandwich. Was told to come back this day-still no sandwich."
Barr also said that he answered a Craigslist ad from a Popeyes worker who would provide "stashed" sandwiches for customers for $24. However, the person who claimed to be an employee at the restaurant never pulled through, and simply took off with his money. Barr is asking for $5,000 and has been assigned an Oct. 28 court date.
"It's totally deceptive. Who runs out of chicken? It's a big fiasco. Someone has to stand up to big corporate," Barr told the Times Free Press. "Everyone is captivated by these sandwiches. They've got everyone gassed up on them."
The shortage has impacted countless fans, including Future. The Hndrxx rapper joked that he switched a bag of a chicken sandwich he got from "a hood spot" with that of a Popeyes bag he had in his car from the week prior. Quavo, meanwhile, has decided to use the shortage as a business opportunity, flipping the sold-out item for $1,000 each.
