It is really no surprise that Ellar Coltrane, the child star from Boyhood who signed to Wilhelmina earlier this year, is now a self-proclaimed fashion whore. The actor turned model that has been busy shooting for publications like L’Uomo Vogue and Citizen K recently sat down with The Cut, where he admits his new title, for lack of a better term.
Coltrane said that it was after a promotional tour for the film that he really got interested in modeling. The new model was already lucky enough to shoot with Hedi Slimane, but recalls him seeming annoyed with his posing when they first got together. "He wanted non-posed, non-contrived, casual – the way you really are. It was actually sort of a challenge to be able to break down those preconceptions of what a fashion shoot is and just kind of look normal.”
Coltrane also gave some insight on gender roles, saying that he thinks they are bullshit and that he'd like to wear a dress at some point.
Ultimately, he says that he is trying to keep his options open, even with all of his success. “I think the two careers can be tied together very nicely, and they complement each other. And that’s what I hope to do. I’m not going to define myself as a model, but I’m not going to define myself as an actor either.”
