Levi's is launching a special Major League Baseball capsule collection later this week. The collection will include a trucker jacket, coaches jacket, and a crewneck sweatshirt representing four teams—the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants. Levi's chose talent to rep each team and, fittingly, Mack Wilds, a New York native, was selected for the Yankees.
According to Mack, the collaboration was a natural fit. "I'm a big fan of the Yankees and Levi's," he tells Complex. "I think it's two very strong American brands that came together. They made something amazing. I told my manager, 'The jean jacket looks like something I want to give to my kid later.' I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it."
Fandom aside, though, he says it's a huge honor for him to be chosen to represent New York, where he was born and raised. "It's big to me," he says. "I'm glad they picked a kid from Stapleton Projects in Staten Island—the borough that people forgot about—to do it. I'd like to think that anything I do, whether it's music or acting or any type of way I express my art, I do it the New York way. We, as New Yorkers, have a certain way about us, a certain swag and touch to us that I try to embody in everything that I do."
The new Levi's x MLB collection will be available on Levi.com on March 30, in select stores on March 31, and at Concepts and Undefeated in April. Fans can sign up for exclusive early access to shop the line a day before the official release by heading over to Levi.com.
