The month of March ushered in a theme of innovation in street art. Many artists experimented with different styles, such as Guus ter Beek and Tayfun Sarier's pieces inspired by Photoshop's eraser tool, Aakash Nihalani and Know Hope's 3D mural, and Andrew Schoultz's dramatic installation for SXSW 2014.
In New York, street artists creatively spoke out against social issues. BAMN and gilf! draped their Gentrification in Progress banner across the whitewashed 5 Pointz complex, and Ji Lee carried out his cheeky Clownify Stickers campaign on advertisements across the city. Location: New York
Ji Lee is the latest soldier in the battle against the prominence of advertisements in the concrete jungle. For the New York-based street artist's clever Clownify Stickers campaign, clown noses popped up on people in ads all over the city, from Liam Neeson to an Old Navy model.

Pixel Pancho wasn't in on this one alone. With the help of RexRomae gallery, he put up his first piece in London. It depicts an android woman dressed in rustic attire and hanging out with some steampunk lizards.

Borondo's style of street art requires careful planning. Instead of directly applying brush strokes, he paints with rollers and uses layering and dripping to create striking portraits.

Alluding to Shakespeare's most chaotic comedy, Laguna named his latest mural A Midspring Night's Dream. The piece is wild, including a full palette of colors and incredible attention to detail. We could spend hours picking apart all the intricacies in this masterpiece.

Nychos returned from POW! WOW! Hawaii 2014 to Austria, where he spent March completing his newest mural, titled Dissection of the Little Mermaid. True to his usual style, the mural overlays the anatomical with the whimsical.

The latest in his series, "W-Rainbow," Shok-1's new mural is surreal, taking advantage of spray paint's light texture to appear almost transparent.
Thierry Noir
Location: London
Thierry Noir's colorful murals are emblematic of the street art scene in Europe; he was one of the forerunners of the movement there. His newest mural is just the latest in a long line of impressive works dating back to the '80s.
BAMN and gilf!
Location: Long Island City, New York
New York street artists BAMN and gilf! teamed up to drape a banner that read "GENTRIFICATION IN PROGRESS" across 5 Pointz, the graffiti Mecca that was tragically whitewashed back in November.
Location: Baden-Baden, Germany
French photographer and street artist JR used old black-and-white photographs from the residents of Baden-Baden for his innovative street art project. Similar to his "Inside Out" project, JR blew up the photos and pasted them on buildings.

New York City-based emerging street artist Aaron Li-Hill was inspired by the movements of a ping-pong game when coming up with this mural.

Four street artists collaborated on this colorful, massive mural, including Stinkfish, who within the past month has also exhibited work at POW! WOW! Hawaii 2014 and created murals in Miami.

After returning from New York, where he had an exhibition at Joseph Levine Gallery and left a new mural on Elizabeth St., Ludo turned to the streets of Paris, where he created this cartoon-inspired, yet dark piece titled, Natural Born Killers.

Mixing ancient Greek themes with a stippled orange and black technique, which we saw in their work at POW! WOW! Hawaii 2014, street art duo Cyrcle has completed their first UK mural, titled All Idols Have Clay Feet!

Rather than use paint, Alexandre Farto, aka Vhils, carves and chips his murals into concrete walls. He has been working with craftsmen from the Guarani tribe to create a massive installation for a show at Caixa Cultural.

POSE's newest mural is part of a collaborative effort by The L.I.S.A. Project NYC to transform Little Italy into an area popping with vibrant street art. He plans to return to the mural later this year to cover the entire five-storey wall.
Aakash Nihalani and Know Hope

You don't need 3D glasses to be fooled by the collaborative Uncornered mural. Nihalani painted the optical illusion of the windows, and Know Hope painted the birds.
Tristan Eaton
Location: West Palm Beach, Fla.
Eaton's work was last seen in Februrary at POW! WOW! Hawaii 2014. Maybe in an effort to stay in warm locations, Eaton spent March in Florida, where he completed this mural that is inspired by Alexander Graham Bell and telecommunications.
Location: Queensboro Bridge, New York
Street artist Judith Supine installed new work on the Queensboro Bridge in New York this month in anticipation of his new show at Mecka Gallery. The previously anonymous artist also recently revealed his identity on camera, something that he may regret considering the NYPD are investigating his latest (illegal) installation. Either way, the new piece shows Supine's signature, rebellious style in more ways than one.
