Lance Gross’ love for fashion and photography isn’t just about him, it’s about the art and the stories he tells. While mapping out his next visually artistic project, the California creator shares his process for bringing photos to life and what it means to catch a vibe on set as he preps celebrity stylist Fatima B. for a day in front of the camera.

Using a mood board and some denim inspiration from Gap, Gross shares his vision and asks Fatima about her life in Tinseltown. He finds out which part of her job she enjoys most: styling one of her high-profile clients for a red carpet appearance or setting them up a photoshoot. With the celeb guru voting for the latter, Lance reassures her his shoots are always laid back, comfortable, and most of all, fun.

Moreover, the acclaimed actor defines what makes a good photograph. He notes, “anything that’s timeless, and catches a person in their natural element, [especially when it] brings out a side that people forget is there.” Though Fatima B. admits she’s nervous when the camera flashes on her, Lance finds a way to capture her quintessence.

Catch up with Gross’ story in part 1, and stay tuned for part 3 of Gap’s Shot Callers series.
