Here's What's Dropping at ComplexCon Chicago 2019

In honor of ComplexCon coming to Chicago, Chinatown Market will release its Yeezy Alumni hoodie that first dropped during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. It will  also have a secret menu at its booth that will feature surprises, bootlegs, and specialty items that won’t be available to purchase ever again. 

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago will raffle off the Off-White Nike Air Force 1 MCA in University Blue, which were designed to commemorate the opening of Virgil Abloh's "Figures of Speech" exhibition at MCA Chicago. It will do the same with one bike it made with artist Takashi Murakami and another designed by Puerto Rican artist Carlos Rolon, a Chicago native.

BAIT will release a series of figurines and toys that includes a Pokémon collab with 10.Deep, a Gundam toy, Astroyboy toys and apparel, a Bruce Lee Funko Pop, and a Strangecat Toys Astro Crash Vinyl Figure designed by Josh Divine.

Eric Emanuel is releasing an exclusive collection with Reebok centered around the Answer 5. Two colorways of Allen Iverson's Answer 5 will be up for grabs. One is a yellow color scheme inspired by the infamous "All-Star" colorway of the Question Mid, which Emanuel owned as a child, and the other represents the New York-based designer's popular label, with a white upper and hot pink shroud. Each is completed by a special flip of the "I3" logo that incorporates Emanuel's "EE" branding. The offering is rounded out with matching mesh basketball shorts, mesh T-shirts, durags, and shooting sleeves that nod to Iverson's signature accessories.

The Japanese sneaker retailer will sell the Atmos x Nike Air Max "Animal 3.0" Pack, which was designed with British artist Dave White and previously only released at its Tokyo stores. The pack consists of three colorways, including "orange/leopard," "green/cow," and "blue/tiger." It will also sell an assortment of matching T-shirts, shorts, bags, and water bottles.

Kristen Noel Crawley of KNC Beauty, who is from Chicago, is releasing a new lip balm, named Supa Balm, that's vegan, petroleum-free, and made in the U.S. It will come in two flavors (mint and rose). She's also giving away 500 mini tins of Garrett popcorn, a Chicago staple, that will feature custom KNC branding. With every purchase over $100, customers will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Bird x KNC scooter—one will be given away on Saturday and another on Sunday—and two VIP tickets to Lollapalooza. Ten percent of all proceeds will go towards After School Matters, a nonprofit organization based in Chicago that provides high school students with after-school and summer opportunities.

ComplexCon's popular Gift Shop, presented by Zen, is hitting Chicago and will offer exclusive merch from the event's artistic director, Takashi Murakami, featuring his iconic flower design, in addition to a collab with the Chicago Cubs. The space will also showcase collaborations with AAPE, ROKIT, Girls Don't Cry, Lyrical Lemonade, and more. The items will include limited-edition prints, artwork, tees, hoodies, skate decks, hats, and mugs, as well as other accessories.

Kinokuniya Book Store, a Japanese shop with a location in Chicago, will bring a variety of art- and streetwear-related books about Nike, Supreme, Akira, and Yayoi Kusama.

Converse is making three collections of Chuck 70s available for pre-sale over the weekend. It's worked with Chinatown Market on a pair of UV-activated sneakers that change from a faded colorway to a fully saturated one when they hit the light. Artist Joshua Vides has applied his linework to the midsole and outsole and crafted a hook-and-loop upper that can be switched out with different canvas panels and Chuck patches. The last capsule, UNT1TL3D, was designed in-house and influenced by the DIY and customization trend. 

Timberland will debut its new Construct: 10061 program that features limited-edition products made from upcycled materials. The first collaboration is with ConceptKicks, a group of footwear designers and experts founded by Daniel Bailey. CONCEPT:006 is a classic yellow boot silhouette crafted with repurposed leather scraps found in the factory. CONCEPT:020 has a white leather upper and a thick Timberland nubuck with a stacked sole designed by David Mawdsley. The padded collar on the boot was produced by Suzanne Oude Hengel, while the unique lacing system was designed by Nathan Alexander Walker.

For those who can't get to ComplexCon, Timberland will hold a pop-up in Maggie Daley Park on Friday and revitalize the Bronzeville Community Garden on Saturday.
