As we approach the eve of ComplexCon Chicago, sneakerheads (and resellers) have begun preparing to pursue a coveted shoe, that being the “MCA” Off-White x Nike Air Force 1. The colorway was featured at Virgil Abloh’s “Figure of Speech” exhibit in MCA Chicago and had a limited drop on the brand’s website. Now, it will be dropping again this weekend at ComplexCon Chicago. But this is no ordinary release.

These shoes will be available at ComplexCon Chicago this Saturday and Sunday via two drawings on each day, as well as during an additional drop on Nike after the convention (details to come). It will not only be the most anticipated release this weekend, but arguably one of the best of the summer.

This summer’s sneakers have been exceptional to say the least, giving us a variety of shoes like the Sacai X Nike LDWaffle, Supreme X Air Jordan XVIs and Adidas Boost 350 V2 “Reflective Black,” all of which have had high resale values. Of the aforementioned shoes, the Adidas Boost 350 V2 Reflective Black has the highest resale value at $1,282 on StockX. This Off-White x Air Force 1 release could potentially top even that number.

There’s a few reasons why this sneaker will be important.

First is the major cultural significance of it happening in Chicago. Not only is Virgil Abloh from Chicago, but The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is also important to the city because it houses works from large and small scale artists alike, making it the center of the Chicago art scene.

ComplexCon exclusives have also had a history of doing very well on the resale market. According to our Off-White Nike Jordan price guide, the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 “ComplexCon” that was released two years ago at ComplexCon Long Beach has one of the highest resale values out of all previous Off-White Air Force 1 collaborations, currently going for an average resale of $2,045. The “MCA” Off-White Air Force 1 is already in competition to surpass that value, marked at nearly $2,000 on StockX now.

UPDATE (07/18): The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago has clarified that two pairs of the Off-White x Air Force 1 will be raffled in a drawing at ComplexCon Chicago. The sneakers will not be on site at the event.
