Abell shot the campaign images at the Cadillac Ranch by Ant Farm in Amarillo, Texas with a focus on the new reissue of Acne's inaugural jeans. For the campaign, as creative director Jonny Johansson explained, the very idea of "iconic" was on everyone's mind.
"Fashion is obsessed with the word iconic," Johansson said. "I wanted to play with living iconography, so we commissioned Sam Abell to photograph Cindy Crawford at the Cadillac Ranch. It is the iconography of Cindy, America, and also Acne Studios, with Cindy wearing new versions of the first ever jeans we designed."
Acne's debut jeans reissue is part of its Fall/Winter 2018 Blå Konst collection. As part of the launch, Abell will hold an exhibition consisting of the Acne Studios shots in Paris later this month. All profits from the show will be given to charity.
