LeBron James celebrates passing Kareem Abdul Jabbar for the all time NBA scoring record

Even during the NFL’s biggest week of the season, the NBA has stolen the headlines. This year’s trade deadline was initially expected to be one the quietest transaction periods we’ve seen in recent years with the most sought after player being OG Anunoby. That all quickly changed when Kyrie Irving demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. With Kyrie’s swift departure, all attention pivoted to Kevin Durant as there was uncertainty about his future in Brooklyn. In the late hours of last night we received our answer as KD was traded to the Phoenix Suns, his preferred destination last summer, to officially send the trade deadline to new heights. Of course prior to that, KD’s former co-star Russell Westbrook was dealt from the Lakers to the Jazz as a part of a three-team deal with the Lakers, Jazz,  and Timberwolves.

The trade deadline has been chaotic to say the least. From the shocking “Woj Bombs” and thrilling Shams updates to the many deals that didn’t go down, the NBA never disappoints with drama. Some teams like the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks elevated their chances at the Larry O’Brien trophy in June while others like the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies watched their odds shrink.

With that being said, we picked the winners and losers from the 2023 NBA trade deadline.
