The Undertaker got into a serious undertaking involving an apparent shark this week.
As documented on Twitter and Instagram, the retired professional wrestler—who’s most recently been on the road with his 1 deadMAN experience—was called to his wife’s assistance over the weekend after she noticed the ocean-dweller nearby.
“I was simply enjoying a book on the beach when this ‘vegetation’ looked a lot like a shark…..so I text hubby,” Michelle McCool, who married the wrestling legend in 2010, said on social media on Sunday. McCool—who referred to The Undertaker as “my protector’—also shared footage and a photo, including a shot of him staring down the apparent shark. “[K]inda digging that last picture …A LOT,” she added.
In the accompanying video clips, McCool is seen showing off how close to the shore they were at the time.
“Okay I texted my husband because [of] this guy right here,” she said in one clip. “I just knew it was a shark. Look how close we are to land.”
In another clip, she joked that she “wasn’t big enough to scare him away but you are.”
At the time of this writing, it wasn't clear where, exactly, the footage was captured. It also wasn't clear what kind of shark the two encountered, though it should come as no surprise to anyone that sharks do indeed reside in the ocean.
But unlike the shark at the center of this story, The Undertaker is fresh off his indication into the WWE Hall of Fame just last year. When announcing the honor last February, a WWE rep praised the wrestler as both “one of the most popular superstars in WWE history” and a bonafide “pop culture icon.”
One year prior, The Undertaker starred in the aptly named interactive special Escape the Undertaker for Netflix.
