Intro
Well, after all the talk, Super Bowl XLVI actually did live up to the hype. There was a bit of everything: An intense game which literally came down to the last second, a halftime show that gave everyone plenty to talk about, and a bit of post-game controversy courtesy of Gisele Bundchen. All of this resulted in Twitter mayhem.
Super Bowl viewers set two Twitter records for most tweets per second. There were 12,233 posts per second in the minutes following the game and 10,245 during Madonna's halftime performance; making it No. 2 and 3 on the list of most tweets per second. We've searched through tons of reactions to bring you the crazy, funny and straight-up ridiculous thoughts from fans and celebs. Here is how Twitter Reacts to Super Bowl XLVI.
Borowitz
@borowitzreport
It's a good thing she hasn't, because she's going to be eating a lot of sausage to cheer up her man.
Brand
@BrandandCo
The simple fact that he actually does wear Uggs is still the worst part of this tweet.
Sports Pickle
@sportspickle
Where's Ochocinco when you need him!? Apparently listening to Beats by Dre headphones doesn't make you a winner.
Metta World Peace
@MettaWorldPeace
Metta is tired of his usual roach friends. He's moved on to old, unattractive women that can't dance.
Chris Warcraft
@ChrisWarcraft
It's common sense speaking truth to power that makes this dude one of the funniest sports personalities to follow on Twitter. Even if he is a stupid kicker.
Kellem
@kellem11
Porn stars actually get tested relatively frequently. You could eat dinner out of that ass (Gronk probably has). Also, Gronk doesn't have stomach ulcers.
Gabrielle
@itsgabrielleu
Gabrielle Union is awesomely awesome awesome. She also apparently does not watch much football. Still awesome though.
Angle of Attack
@angleofattack
We've heard the law firm comparison before. This one is new, and ... not nearly as funny.
Suck my dick
@SickMyEffnDuck
Sounds like someone's salty about not getting their duck sicked last night.
B Scal
@BScalabrine24
OK Scalabrine, let's not get carried away here. Also, did your agent tell you you're playing for the Bulls now?
Max Read
@Max_Read
This is funny. But Eli's laughing and talking about dinosaurs (and whatever the fuck-all else he wants to) all the way to the Hall of Fame.
OverTheTop
@__OverTheTop
It's kind of rare to see a Twitter handle so fitting but there's not much to say about this tweet that hasn't been said already. #assonassonass
thuBzz7
@thuBzz7
Hmmm. Complaining about the football savvy of your female Super Bowl watching pals is a party foul where we're from.
Shyy Lan Rouj
@ShyylanRouj
The in-game analysis you get on Twitter is hilarious. Where else are you going to hear such an eloquent explanation of why the Ahmad Bradshaw could've been a bad thing? Keep it 100.
Tim McCarver
@TimMcCarver
One good thing about having the Super Bowl broadcast on NBC (and it not being a baseball game) was not having to hear Tim McCarver nor Joe Buck's ridiculous commentary throughout the game. This isn't a verified account but we can definitely imagine hearing Tim saying "booby tassle" in his personal life. #marvalbertsteez
Breezyy02
@breezyy02
#thatawkwardmoment when people at your Super Bowl party don't know shit about what's actually going on in the game. SMH.
Mirblac
@Mirblac
Yup, chances are you'll probably see someone breaking open the safe and making it rain in the office or in the club sometime soon. And just like Mr. Hernandez that person will take an L that day.
Julio Ramundo
@Julio_Ramundo
Judging by your background photo Julio, we're thinking you'd hit just about anything...if given the opportunity.
Real Bobby Baker
@RealRobbyBaker
Hey Robby! Wes is engaged to this woman. You've got a bunch of weird shit attached to your ears. #getyourprioritiesstraight
Holy Karon
@TheHolyKaron
If by "crucified" you mean "completely ethered by Gisele Bundchen," then yes.
Mark Herzlich
@MarkHerzlich
This guy's a cancer survivor, so just waking up is a big deal for him. Waking up with a ring, all the better.
James Harrison
@jharrison9292
D-d-d-d-amn! Guess that Steelers-Pats rivalry is still hot. Now, if only Pittsburgh could figure out a way to beat that Tebow dude next year. #justsayin
