Powell Motors needed a hit, and so Herb made the mistake of hiring Homer Simpson as a designer in order to create a car for the average American. Of course, this plan failed spectacularly, and the Homer was a complete flop from moment one. It even pushed the company into bankruptcy.

Now an intrepid builder has made a race ready version—a Homer Gran Turismo Omologato, if you will—to compete in a LeMons race (the endurance race of $500 beaters). It's based on a BMW E30, and the license plate, of course, reads "BORT."
