Mayweather Will Only Fight Khabib Nurmagomedov If They're Boxing

Floyd Mayweather responded to Dana White about fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov in the Octagon with a boast about how much money he has as the sky remains blue.

Floyd Mayweather continues to cling to the limelight even with his fighting days nearly invisible in the rearview. After Khabib Nurmagomedov got Conor McGregor to submit in their UFC title match, before leapfrogging the Octagon wall to start a Vegas brawl, Floyd, like a toddler who isn't getting enough attention when their younger sibling is born, said he'd fight Khabib if there's enough moolah involved.

"Listen, if Mayweather wants to fight, come fight," Dana White told TMZ of the hypothetical bout. "You fight in the UFC. We're not boxing him. We did that once. That's over." He's of course referring to McGregor's surprisingly entertaining boxing bout against Mayweather, which ended in a 10th round TKO.

Mayweather has responded in kind. "They said it has to happen in the Octagon," he told the Don King of an editorial outlet. "And I said, 'Just tell me where Khabib has made 9 figures before in the Octagon!' If he hasn't made nine figures, he's not the A-side. So, I'm the A-side."

Like a petulant child, Mayweather added, "It's my way, my rules. I'm Floyd 'Money' Mayweather!"

It's highly unlikely this fight happens, even if Khabib decides to try it in the boxing ring—which he shouldn't. We've gotten whiplash trying to follow Floyd's purported bout with undefeated kickboxing sensation, Tenshim Nakusawa. First he was down to fight the Japanese star, then he claimed he'd never agreed and the fight was a ruse. Now, it's purportedly back on for New Years Eve.

Tenshin, who is 20, seems to be a good sport about the entire Floyd show, but we've been out on Floyd for a while now. and if that fight does happen hopefully Nakusawa hits him so hard even his relevancy breaks.
