Charlie Sheen's best-known movie role is as Cleveland Indians pitcher Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn in Major League. But some fans, and Sheen himself, want it to be a documentary. Just after the Indians locked in a World Series appearance, Cleveland fans started tweeting that they wanted Sheen to throw out the first pitch at a World Series game. The actor quickly responded on Thursday via Twitter. "Major League continues to be the gift that keeps on giving!" he wrote. "If called upon, I'd be honored."
Sadly, the team announced that same day that they had no interest in letting Sheen reprise his role at a real-life game. However, it is Major League Baseball, rather than the individual teams, that sets up the celebrity first pitches, so a glimmer of hope still remains.
This year's actual Cleveland Indians were, as it turns out, inspired by their cinema predecessors. According to ESPN.com:
