The Antonio Brown off-season drama has reached new heights. Today, the superstar wide receiver took to Instagram to repost an image of himself in a San Francisco 49ers jersey, the team that Brown reportedly wants to play for "really badly," accompanied by Niners legend Jerry Rice.
Brown was acknowledging that Rice, arguably the greatest wideout that the game of football has ever seen, was embracing his potential move to the west coast. The caption of the post reads, "When the goat embrace you......." Make no mistake about it, Brown is campaigning to become a member of the 49ers next season.
This is just the latest Rice-related teaser that suggests Brown wants to suit up in red and gold in 2019. During a recent radio interview with 97.5 The Game, the Hall of Famer said that he is in frequent communicatin with the All-Pro wideout, and that he has expressed interest in playing for the team. Rice also stressed that the 49ers front office should definitely be pursuing trade opportunities to make this scenario a reality, a quote also featured on Brown's most recent IG post.
"If you got a player like that, that you can get, that can really add to the offense of the San Francisco 49ers where you let those guys go play, I think you have to go for it," said Rice.
While other teams seem to be willing to welcome Brown with open arms, Steelers owner Art Rooney has already expressed that it is "hard to envision" him in black and yellow next season. Teammates like center Maurkice Pouncey and JuJu Smith-Schuster still seem to be holding out hope that both parties can settle their differences. "We're a band of brothers. We've been together a long time," Pouncey told ESPN. "You can't tell me a great phone conversation or a sit-down can't get things right."
