Monroe released his own statement through his Twitter account, confirming that his days of playing for the Baltimore Ravens are over. In that same statement he also made it clear that he plans to continue his advocacy for medical marijuana:

The Baltimore Ravens have released offensive tackle and medical marijuana advocate Eugene Monroe. Monroe has become increasingly outspoken during the last couple of months about the positive aspects of marijuana in comparison to the dangers that come with the league's use of opioids. While the Ravens didn't implicitly say parting ways with the 29-year-old was the direct result of his stance on weed, the team's website did address it in their post announcing his release.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Ravens were in talks with the New York Giants regarding Monroe, but when negotiations reportedly fell through over the $6.5 million he's due next season, it become a increasingly clear that the franchise didn't want to hold onto him.
Schefter is reporting that teams like the Giants, San Diego Chargers and Seattle Seahawks could still be in play for Monroe, especially since his price tag has now been lowered considerably.
