Kyle Lowry Explains Why He Still Does DeMar DeRozan Handshake Routine

Kyle Lowry gives us "friendship goals" when revealing why he's still doing the handshake routine he had with former teammate DeMar DeRozan.

When the Toronto Raptors traded DeMar DeRozan for Kawhi Leonard in July, Kyle Lowry lost a longtime teammate, but more importantly, he was forced to part ways with a close friend. Lowry reportedly didn't take the news all too well. According to TSN's Josh Lewenberg, the Raptors star point guard was avoiding calls and texts from team president Masai Ujiri and head coach Nick Nurse after the trade. However, by the time media day rolled around, Lowry was in attendance, wearing his Toronto jersey, and saying all the right things to reporters.

Just because Lowry appeared to be moving on didn't mean that DeRozan was far from his mind. That became evident when he was spotted doing the handshake that he used to do with DeMar before coming out of the tunnel.

When asked about his pre-game routine with a now phantom DeRozan, Lowry chalks it up to simply being superstitious. "It has been working for me for a long time. That's my best friend in the world. That's more for myself," he said. "Going out there, it's been keeping me healthy. It's been helping me continue to get better. It's kinda like superstition."

What Lowry and DeRozan have is also "friendship goals." So find you someone who misses you as much as Kyle misses his former teammate.
