Joel Embiid gets in a fight with Karl Anthony Towns.

UPDATED 10/31/19, 6:12 p.m. ET: Shams Charania is reporting that Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns have both received two day suspensions for their altercation. Ben Simmons was not fined.

NBA suspensions from 76ers/Timberwolves scuffle, per sources: Joel Embiid, 2 games; Karl-Anthony Towns, 2 games. No fine for Ben Simmons.

UPDATED 10/31/19, 11:36 a.m. ET: Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand is defending Joel Embiid, claiming that Karl-Anthony Towns started the fight between the two players on Wednesday. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said that Brand is standing by that message in talks with the league.

Sources: Sixers and Brand are communicating to the NBA that they believe KAT was the aggressor in the scuffle with Joel Embiid. Also, they've "doubled-down" on referee assessment that Simmons was peacemaker --- and delivered that message to league office too. https://t.co/JOdGrWgeiC

"First and foremost, we obviously don’t condone the altercation that happened last night," Brand said. "As a former player, I have experienced situations like that in the past. I understand how our players reacted in the moment. I have their backs."

Tempers boiled over during Wednesday's game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves when Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid turned some poorly thrown punches into a big man wrestling match.

Both players were ejected from the game while no one else was punished. However, Ben Simmons wrapped his arm around Towns’ neck.

Prior to their wrestling match, it appeared that Embiid and KAT were simply being physical with one another, and nothing more. Apparently not.

best part is right before the fight embiid got KAT again and then doubled him and made him lose the ball 😂 pic.twitter.com/E35GQMG5Th

Aside from getting choked out by Simmons, Towns was also given the Oberyn Martell treatment by Embiid during their scuffle.

After finding out that he was being tossed, Embiid did a little shadowboxing on the court. Before heading into the tunnel, he stayed for a bit to pump up the crowd.

However, if Embiid stuck around any longer, he was going to have a Round 2 with KAT's mom.

Next game for Philadelphia and Minnesota is Saturday. Expect the league office to take a thorough approach on how they access suspensions for Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns. We are likely looking at multi-games for each.

The 76ers eventually won the game with a final score was 117-95. After his team's win, Embiid took to IG to address what went down. "Great team win!!!," Embiid wrote. "I was raised around lions and a cat pulled on me tonight lmao @jimmybutler I missed being part of the 3rd stringers... I got his mom giving middle fingers. That’s some SERIOUS REAL ESTATE #FightNight #IAintNoBitch."
