Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka's trial for May 1983 death of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, has been delayed after the wrestler's attorney Robert J. Kirwan II told the judge that his mental health "has been declining steadily in recent months, to the point he doesn't understand the charges against him or even know that he's been arrested."
Kirwan informed Lehigh County Judge Kelly L. Banach that his client, who has allegedly had trouble remembering the names of family members, didn't even recognize him during a recent visit to Snuka's Camden County, N.J. home. "I had to explain who I was and what my name is," he said. The trial which was slated to begin on March 22 has been put on hold while mental health experts for both parties involved conduct a thorough examination on the 72-year-old wrestler. They will present their findings at a hearing on March 18.
According to Kirwin, Snuka was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome in 2010 and was deemed not competent to stand trial after getting examined by two mental health experts hired from the defense last year.
