Colin Kaepernick didn't see much of last night's first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, but judging from the brief moments he did watch, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback was far from impressed. While he didn't criticize a particular moment in the debate, Kaepernick took aim at both candidates, calling them "proven liars" who are deliberating over which one is "less racist."
“I watched a little bit of it, to me it was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates,” Kaepernick told the Mercury News. “Both are proven liars and it almost seems like they’re trying to debate who’s less racist. At this point, in talking to one of my friends, you have to pick the lesser of two evils, but the end is still evil.” The silver lining to Kaep's comments is that he still plans to vote, no matter how terrible the options may be.
Back in August, Trump bashed Kaepernick over his national anthem protest, advising him to "find a country that works better for him." On Tuesday, Kaep responded to the GOP presidential nominee's remarks. "It's a very ignorant statement that if you don't agree with what's going on here, if you want justice, liberty and freedom for all, then you should leave the country," Kaepernick said. "He always says 'Make America Great Again.' Well, it's never been great for people of color. That's something that needs to be addressed. Let's make America great for the first time."
