UPDATED 11/4, 8:57 a.m. ET: The Browns have decided to waive Jermaine Whitehead following his social media outburst.
The Browns issued a statement on Sunday night in which the organization said it will speak to Whitehead about his antics. "Jermaine Whitehead’s social media posts following today’s game were totally unacceptable and highly inappropriate," the statement reads. "We immediately spoke to Jermaine upon leaning of these comments. The Browns in no way condone that type of language or behavior. This matter will be further addressed internally."
Whitehead issued a backhanded apology for the incident via an Instagram post. "They tell you take the high road, when yo whole life you was taught to meet fire with fire. I do apologize for my performance, but having a broke hand and a strong fear of letting my team down is my downfall," Whitehead's caption reads. "Whatever happens happens. Ain trippin. They probably gone still talk crazy but this me getting smoke off my chest. I don’t need one like.. this from me to me! Keep ya head up homie, can’t nobody fuck with you. I dare em to try." This seemed to be the final straw for the Browns as the team has decided to move on from their starting safety.

It’s going to be a busy next few days for the Cleveland Browns' PR department.
Following the Browns' 24-19 loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday, safety Jermaine Whitehead took to Twitter to aggressively confront his critics. In a series of tweets which have since been deleted, Whitehead threatened to kill a detractor, suggested that another user "don’t get shot at," and threw out what could very well be his address to someone that he wanted to fight.
Whitehead’s Twitter account has been suspended.
Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports that Whitehead, who was wearing a brace on his left hand due to his "broke hand," was still in full uniform when he went on this Twitter tirade.
Despite the Browns' PR team’s best efforts to curtail his Twitter fingers, Whitehead ended up turning to Instagram to let off some more steam.
For those questioning if it was actually Whitehead's Twitter account since there wasn't a blue check, he's transitioned over to using his verified Instagram page to keep the threats going.
Whitehead was given the start on Sunday since Damarious Randall has been dealing with a hamstring issue. After Sunday's tirade, the Browns released an official statement via a team spokesperson.
