There's a fine line between "unique" and "weird." These vehicles cross that line.

Intro

This week's roundup features just about everything but boats. For air and land vehicles alike, look no further than this list.

No Dharma Initiative

10. No Dharma Initiative

Vehicle: 1967 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Pick-Up
Auction Link
Complex Says: We see VW buses all the time. But pickups? Not so much. This one is in pretty good shape, and the seller says the engine currently installed has only 3,000 miles on it. The seller also has a bunch of repair and maintenance receipts, going back to 1975. That's always a good thing if you're buying used. This truck has been sitting in a garage from 2006 until now, but it ran well before the current owner parked it. You'll probably need to splash out a little more cash on some Sea Foam to run through your first couple of tanks of gas, if everything else the seller has said is accurate. An unusual blast from the past.

Gotham Delivery Vehicle

9. Gotham Delivery Vehicle

Vehicle: 1940 Ford Delivery Panel Van
Auction Link
Complex Says: This vehicle has only 50,000 miles on it, and the seller says it's a barn find. It has a clear Florida title and some minor rust along the fenders, as well as rust in the floor area between the shifter and seats. Other minor items that need replacing include some glass and the door handles. What drew us to this car is the same thing the seller mentions in the auction listing: we see a lot more Ford pickup trucks of this era than delivery vans. This car wouldn't look out-of-place in Batman's Gotham City.

Not a Nintendo

8. Not a Nintendo

Vehicle: 1968 Citroen DS21
Auction Link
Complex Says: The Citroen DS21 was voted the most beautiful car of all time by Classic & Sports Car Magazine. It's also the car that Patrick Jane drives on The Mentalist--though we bet his isn't as nice as this one. It recently had the starter rebuilt, runs well, and is currently maintained by a Citroen specialty shop in Wilmington, Calif. Also, the seller says it's rust-free. Yes, this is the same company that brought you the quirky wonder that was the 2CV. We know.

Hopefully Not a Chest-Burster

7. Hopefully Not a Chest-Burster

Vehicle: 1958 Hiller Yard Hand Tractor
Auction Link
Complex Says: It's a tiny tractor, suitable for yard work on a smaller plot of land, such as a suburban back yard. Some of these came with a brake option, but it's not clear whether this one has those installed. What we really like about this is, from far away it looks like you're riding a Giger Alien. That could just be us.

Not an XBOX

6. Not an XBOX

Vehicle: 1969 Subaru 360
Auction Link
Complex Says: Long before you could experience the beauty of Subaru's all-wheel drive, the Japanese automaker unleashed the 360 as its shot across the bow of the U.S. auto market. Powered by an air-cooled, two-stroke, rear transversely mounted engine, the 360 was named for its engine displacement. Since this is a later version of this model, it should have the proprietary Subarumatic fuel/oil mixing system installed. So you won't have to worry about mixing fuel and two-stroke oil yourself. Also, this car weighs less than 1,000 pounds. We'd love to see someone use that fantastic weight advantage to make one of these go staggeringly fast.

For Really Rough Commutes

5. For Really Rough Commutes

Vehicle: M75 Armored Personnel Carrier
Auction Link
Complex Says: Not only is this the father of all modern APCs, but everything on it has been restored and is in fully operational order. It's also historically correct. So you get things like a fully operational 1950s-era tube military radio and intercom system, clear working periscopes, pioneer and mine detector kits, and all the original manuals and checklists. The machine gun and rocket launcher are dummy props, for understandable reasons, but everything else is completely legit. It also has a rifle rack for M1-Garand or M1-Carbine rifles, but you should be aware that the rifles aren't included in the auction.

Try the Pie!

4. Try the Pie!

Vehicle: 1914 Ford Model T Pie Wagon
Auction Link
Complex Says: Want in on the food truck craze, but don't want your everyday modern truck? This is the answer. Whether you sell actual pies or some other foodstuff, you're sure to get noticed rolling in your Model T Pie Wagon. There's also little chance that anyone will refer to it as a “roach coach." Your local laws may have changed since these wheels were new, so check to see if it's legal for you to sling tacos out the back before you buy it.

Not a Morgan

3. Not a Morgan

Vehicle: 1981 Moto Guzzi Triking
Auction Link
Complex Says: It's a bike! No, it's a car! No, it's a trike! But it's not your average triked-out Harley or Goldwing. Instead, it's a purpose-built Moto Guzzi-engined 800-pound trike. It has fuel injection and disc brakes, as well. Despite what you may think, it's not a custom vehicle. It was a limited-production model made by a company in England. Only 160 of these were made. If you're interested and have $30,000 on hand, you'd better hurry. This auction will be over in less than a day. If it doesn't sell, it's always possible the seller may re-list it--but you can't count on that happening.

Search and Rescue Copter

2. Search and Rescue Copter

Vehicle: Sikorsky S-62 Search and Rescue Helicopter
Auction Link
Complex Says: If you win this auction, not only do you get what the seller says is, “the last flying Sikorsky S-62.” You also get a bunch of spares and manuals to help you operate and maintain the thing in good working order. This particular copter has spent a large portion of its life fighting fires, and the seller has a bunch of its fire contract records available. It's currently set up to do fire suppression, as well. This auction includes a trailer for transport. If you plan to purchase it outside the U.S., you'll need to obtain State Department approval before you can bid.

Where's Mr. Fusion?

1. Where's Mr. Fusion?

Vehicle: 1981 DMC DeLorean Time Machine
Auction Link
Complex Says: While this isn't one of the props used in the Back to the Future films, it is a fantastic recreation. The company that makes these, Bob's Prop Shop, is well-known for perfect recreations. Many of the people involved with the original movies have met and taken photos with Bob, which he has posted on his auction listing. He has also provided media coverage and production videos in the listing. If that's not exciting enough for you, Kevin Pike is the guy who designed the cars used in the film. He's now Bob's agent. If you have a spare $65,000, it doesn't get much better than this.
